June is finally here--let the summer begin! As the school year winds down, the fortress of fiction beside my bed has stacked up grandly. I will want for nothing when it comes to good reading material this season. Looking for a great book? See below for a few suggestions, or check out my Shelfari bookshelf via the tab above.
5 books to read this summer:
1. The Vanishing of Katharina Linden by Helen Grant
2. A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
3. The WeirdSisters by Eleanor Brown
4. Caleb’sCrossing by Geraldine Brooks
5. The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly
*And if you still haven’t read The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery, you simply MUST check it out. It is the most beautiful book I have ever read. Period.
Happy Reading!- a great weekend with great friends
- homemade enchiladas
- quiet time
- my floppy sun hat
I agree. The Elegance of the Hedgehog was a gem, full of wonderful bits of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteOn my wishlist this summer is Emma Donoghue's Room and The Paris Wife. I will be checking out Jennifer Egan's book. Thanks for the recommendations.
Ah yes! The Paris Wife is another one on my list. So many books to read - very excited for some much needed leisure time over the next few weeks!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those books! I will add them to the list at once. I love your gratitude list too - a wonderful way to remember the little things that make life special. Enjoy the sunshine x
ReplyDeleteNiki,
ReplyDeleteWOW- a book I had not heard of and you say it is amazing! I'm so excited! You know what a book freak I am so I have already added the Hedgehog book to my must read list.
Not that I need more to read but I was at another blog and they published the BBC's Top 100 Books- a bit weighted toward Brit fiction but still plenty of stuff I have not read (and am not sure I will ever get through Joyce's Ulysses!).
Thanks again for the great ideas!
